With so many makeup choices available today, it can be difficult to decide what is best for you. Revlon, Avon, Maybelline, and Cover Girl all boast of their products, and each has good things to offer women around the world. When choosing a cosmetic brand or product, it is important to know not only the physical benefits, but the benefits that it offers your skin and body. While some mascaras leave your lashes longer or powders make your skin shine, did you know that certain cosmetics can actual improve your health?Aloe Vera originated thousands of years ago in the arid regions of North Africa, but its uses span the globe at present day. This popular plant is the most widely used plant in the cosmetic industry. However, it is not confined only to makeup. Manufacturers of products such as cleaning agents, sunscreens, lotions, and healing creams have all discovered the benefits of aloe vera. Perhaps one of the best ways to consistently use this priceless plant for women is in the cosmetics that the majority of females apply daily.
Makeup containing aloe vera is extremely helpful and advantageous for several different reasons. Aloe Vera has been around nearly as long as our world and was even mentioned in the Bible at least five times for its healing powers. This is undoubtedly because it contains large amounts of vitamins C, A, B, and E as well as a vast array of minerals, and something that rich in benefits doesn’t go unnoticed for long!
Aloe in Makeup? Why?
Aloe vera has numerous benefits that can be gained from using makeup that contain it.
Clear Out Those Pores
Some–cough, most, cough–cosmetics have chemicals that are actually harmful to our skin and bodies. All those chemicals and artificial additives can make themselves at home in our pores and clog them up. Pores can already get plugged up quick from oil (sidenote: makeup can also increase your skin’s oil production, making your naturally oil skin even greasier), dead skin cells and debris–it does not need your makeup getting in their too! But, unfortunately, makeup goes a good job of working its way in there. And clogged pores can lead to a variety of skin problems, including acne. So taking advantage of aloe’s ability to clear out those pores and give your skin room to breathe and heal from any skin nightmares sounds like a good course of action, am I right? Shocked at the fact that makeup, which covers your “flaws,” may be actually making them worse? You can always go without makeup altogether, and use aloe as a face moisturizer to keep that skin fresh and all natural!
Strengthen the Immune System
Because aloe vera is a natural detoxifying agent, it serves to help rid the body of harmful chemicals and toxins that keep it from performing at the optimal level. Using aloe on a consistent basis can help clean out the digestive and circulatory systems, which allows the immune system to more efficiently to fight off infections and kill bacterial. This allows for the body to feel rejuvenated by being more able to work the way it should.
Take Advantage of Aloe’s Anti-Aging Properties
What woman doesn’t wish for younger looking skin and perhaps try every product on the market in pursuit of ageless beauty? Aloe Vera is a natural way to prevent premature aging and keep your skin looking its youngest and freshest. Not only does detoxifying the body help our immune system, but it also cleanses the body of the toxins that can cause premature aging. Aloe Vera, when used in cosmetics, penetrates through layers of skin to hydrate the skin. This is a large part of why aloe is used in so many moisturizing products. It also works as an astringent, which keeps the skin tight and firm and helps to prevent wrinkles. Aloe Vera not only helps prevent aging, but is a natural skin cleanser as well. Using aloe aids the skin in removing dead skin cells, which leaves the skin smoother and much softer.
Overall Health
As if the above benefits are not enough, aloe simply improves overall health. Perhaps its most famous use is to heal burns and soothe pain. Aloe can also calm irritated skin and clear up acne, which gives healing properties to the body and skin. People all over the world go through detoxifying programs every year to allow their body to properly manage the nutrients it is given. Skip the detox and use aloe! Another benefit of its detoxifying agents is that aloe allows the body to stop dealing with the harmful toxins so that it is able to focus on absorbing nutrients and distributing them throughout the body. Using aloe in cosmetics can also help to protect the skin from sun rays, dust, and harmful chemicals in the atmosphere.
Where to Find (or How to Make) Aloe Makeup
Now that you’re convinced of the benefits of using cosmetics that contain aloe vera, the next question on your mind is probably about where to get the makeup! While there are several major cosmetic lines that use aloe in their product, there are only a few that advertise aloe as the basis of their line. Some examples of these are the Aloe Based Cosmetics Line and Aloe Foundation Makeup. But, another possibility is to simply add aloe into your makeup by creating your own cosmetics! There are countless recipes and instructions available to create almost any kind of product with aloe, but below are the recipes for mascara, primer, and lip gloss using aloe vera.
- Mascara
To make your own mascara simply empty 1 activated charcoal capsule into a bowl and mix in ¼ tsp. of aloe vera gel. Then mix these well. Now you are ready to apply using an old, but well-cleaned, mascara wand. Do not store this mixture, but simply make enough to use each day.
- Primer
Primers are popular to apply before other cosmetics in order to make your skin ready. This easy recipe calls for mixing 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel with 2 tablespoons moisturizer. Then simply add in 1 tablespoon of foundation, mix some more and you have a primer ready to go!
- Lip Gloss
For this hydrating lip gloss first mix ½ tsp. coconut oil with 1 tsp. petroleum jelly. Then add in 1 tsp. aloe vera gel and mix gently together. Heat the mixture in the microwave for 2 minutes, mixing briskly when finished. Be sure to allow the mixture to cool completely before applying.
As you can see, the benefits of using aloe vera are numerous and substantial. Using aloe in your makeup each day will allow you to enjoy these benefits on a daily basis. Aloe can improve your overall health and the look of your skin drastically. Easy to use and easy to make, aloe is a plant that you can’t overlook!
