Conjunctivitis, the medical term for pink eye, is a fairly common ailment among school-age children. Pink eye can be caused by a variety of things, but most often by a virus or bacteria. It is very contagious and can be transferred via hand contact with anything that has touched the eye or eye area. This is why it can spread so quickly among a group of friends or a classroom of children.
The conventional treatment for most forms of pink eye is a topical antibiotic or antifungal medication. This usually involves a doctor visit which can be extremely inconvenient or costly. Additionally, these medications have many additives that can cause unnecessary eye or skin irritation. Many people also develop allergies to antibiotics due to overuse. Fortunately, there are other home remedies for pink eye that are quite effective.
One of the most proven home remedy to treat conjunctivitis is Aloe Vera. Aloe is readily available in different forms at drug stores and natural food stores and is fairly inexpensive. This natural remedy has proven antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. This makes it the perfect way to treat pink eye, no matter the root cause. The most common Aloe Vera products are sold as sunburn relief aids, although many brands of eye drops also contain Aloe to soothe inflammation. Aloe is gentle enough to be used in and around the eye, but read labels carefully and beware of other ingredients that could irritate or sting.

My mother had two very large aloe vera plants with thick juicy leaves. As a kid I used to break off
piece of the branch and suck the jelly from inside. The jelly had a very bitter taste to it at first,
but as I continued to suck the juice, a plain transparent white tasteless jelly was left and I then
swallowed it. My mother told me it was safe to eat. My mother was like an herbalist. She knew
a lot about herbs. Now this was many many years ago. I am now 80 years old and I forgot all
about that. Presently I have lots of allergies and fungul infection under my breasts and arms.
I have been spending lots of money on the doctors and they are prescribing all these dangerous
drugs to cure it. It’s a waste of money because I am allergic to these medications. I am looking
around for safer medicines at the health food stores and pharmacies in vain.
I would like to thank you for your article here. because at last I have found the right medicine, the aloe vera. When I saw your article my mind went back to my childhood and the aloe vera.
I am so happy I found your article. and I honestly want to thank you for this.
I would recommend aloe vera to anyone. And best of all there is no side effects.
Thanks again.

I will preface this reply with the words “I am not a Dr just someone who’s used a lot of natural stuff in my life healing various health issues. Anything I tell you,I would run by your Dr or qualified health professional first. That said, I use a few things often to stay healthy (herbs, essential oils, tinctures, active charcoal, microcurrent therapy etc). My favorite herbs are alfalfa, lavender, ginger root,Clove and frankincense.
If you have used several prescription drugs and gotten no relief either it may not be a fungus or the meds weren’t right in strength or composition. But,you may want to do a few things to speed up the healing process 1) drink lots of water to flush your system 2)build your immune system vitamin C ,good diet and sleep. Ginger is pretty good and readily available.. Its very anti-inflammatory and is not expensive. You will want to make this into a tea by using the ginger root from the veggie dept of the supermarket. I would peel about 1/4 of the whole root. Then slice it thin and add it to about 4 cups of water and put bin a pan on the stove. Heat at medium heat maybe 7 minutes then turn it to low or simmer. Do this for about 45min-1 hr. remove from heat. I usually dilute the remaining yellowish ginger water, but you will have to taste for yourself. Its spicy so just dilute to taste. You can add honey to make nit go down easier if you want. I would drink about 1/2 cup of it for a couple days. This takes the inflammation out of the infection a bit. Drink lots of water too in order to flush toxins out the body.
I would also explore using cut garlic cloves on the fungus infected area. Its quite strong and may sting a little. Use your discretion here as garlic is very strong and yes you will smell like it a few days. Remember ,Garlic thins the blood so if you are pre surgery you wont want to use garlic or if you are taking any blood thinners (coumadin etc) without running this by your Dr first.

Lovely article, I too love the medicinal benefits of herbs and essential oils. I have oily and acne prone skin and I can honestly tell you that I am consistent with my own personal holistic versions of keeping myself together.
I will however, go to the Dr. and sometimes, I will take an antibiotic, if prescribe, but only for a quicker relief if I am feeling really bad or have a serious infection that needs a quick remedy. I will only seek out a Dr. if totally necessary, other than than, I believe in natural holistic care.

Hello,
I have read your article and it was really interesting but I am wondering some things.
My name is Maria and i’m 22 and i’ve been suffering from uveitis for 2 years. I would like to try the aloe vera inside my eyes if it has anti-inflammatory powers. But i am a bit afraid about putting it inside my eyes. It’s been one week since i have been using honey inside them because ppl said it could heal my ailment but i feel like it got worse.
Help help!
